2021 Update: For the most part, the new chapel has been completed and has been a blessing for the staff and campers. There are a few tweaks that the camp directors would like to make in the future.
Build out a storage room.
Build out a small bathroom. Currently the kids need to run the length of the camp to use the bathroom.
This is a picture of our current Chapel at Camp Horizon. Fifteen years ago when the new cafeteria was built the old one was taken apart, moved to the other side of the camp and reconstructed as the Chapel. The ceiling is low, the floor is dirt and the roof leaks - none of which are conducive to a Chapel. Our goal for the summer of 2018 is to construct and furnish a new chapel. We are working on ideas and concept drawings that will in time be posted on this site. Our goal is to raise $6,000 to cover the construction costs of the new Chapel. Last summer our team, working alongside our Romanian brothers and sisters, was able to complete sufficient projects for the camp to reopen for the balance of last summer and for the summer of 2018. We continue to patch the chapel back together but it would be so much better to start from scratch and complete a new chapel with a cement floor and a higher ceiling. We have a special account set up through Envision Europa to fund the chapel and please note that 100% of your contributions go to your designated cause. Please consider how you can be part of this ministry project.
UPDATE: As of May 2nd, we have raised $2000 of the $6000 needed for the completion of the chapel.
UPDATE2: Praise the Lord! Not only did we reach our $6000 goal for the new camp chapel but we exceeded it by nearly $3000. A big "Thank You!" to all those that donated. It is a good thing we made the goal. As you can see from the picture, the old chapel is gone. The extra money will be used for possible bathrooms, chairs/tables, sound system and whatever else it will take to make this chapel a holy place of worship.
